Applied Biosystems/Celera Applied Biosystems
Sr. Manger Software Technology , Computational Biology Group, Foster City, CA. June. 2004 to Oct 2005.
Managed software group responsible for the current release of the PANTHER scientific website. Worked
with scientist and bioinformatics to define requirements and improve current site to include many new
tools and features including support for proteomics products and gene expressing array platform.
Currently taking on the role of project manager for the future scientific web site for all of Applied
Biosystems.
PANTHER
Program Manager, Advanced Scientific Applications Group, Foster City, CA. June. 2000 to Oct. 2005
Managed a R&D program staff of molecular biologists whose job it was to facilitate internal cross-departmental high throughput projects
between R&D and Services Core Labs, as well as to provide customer feedback from the Services Applications Group to internal product groups.
This included both software and platforms feedback for Assay's on Demand and by Design, resequencing assay's, SNPlex, 1700 Micro Arrays,
Taqman Gene Expression and SNP Genotyping software, and LIMS.
Managed Genomic Applications Software Group consisting of software engineers, software QA/QC, and IT. The group
was responsible for supplying a flexible LIMS based on laboratory standard operating procedures to all production labs including:
sequencing, gene expression, and snp genotyping. The group was also responsible for any custom analysis applications needed
to allow for high throughput data analysis, which included SNP Genotyping software for Taqman and SNPlex, Taqman Gene Expression data visualization
and analysis tools, and 1700 Micro Array data analysis pipeline.
Developer, Applied Markets Group, Foster City, CA. Oct. 1998 to 2000
Developed genetic analysis software in an object oriented
environment, using Java. Application was used to analyze AFLP fragment data generated by ABI 310 and 3100 Genetic Analyzers.
Application consisted of Swing client for data uploading, a Swing client for analysis and viewing, J2EE Application
Server running under PowierTier 6.02 with an Oracle database backend.
Developer, Genetic Applications Group, Foster City, CA. Oct. 1995 to 1998
Developed genetic analysis software in an object oriented environment using MacApp and Java. The software included
a suite of products for fragment analysis including genotyping, pedigree analysis and database storage. As a member
of the project team for the pedigree application, my responsibilities included user interface design, all drawing
tools and extensive work on a pedigree-mapping algorithm. Updated Genotyping software to handle communications with
the pedigree application. Project lead on AFLP analysis software project. This was a cross-platform application
used in identification/fingerprinting and relatedness/diversity studies on AFLP marker data. The
software package also consists of database capabilities for doing searches of an unknown against a set of known.
MetaCommunications
Developer, Iowa City, IA. Dec. 1993 to 1995
Developed software in an object oriented environment involving networking and database acquisition for an SQL server,
Butler ª, using Apple's Data Access Manager (DAM). Programming in C and C++ using MacApp and Think C Class Library to
create a commercial application (Job Managerª) for use in pre-press companies to manage time and materials during production.
Managed a team of programmers through the final beta release phases. Trained all new programmers, arranged and authorized bug
and improvement database reports, initiated weekly meetings to keep individual employees informed and involved. Responsible
for all code releases and version updates. In charge of final code evaluation and quality control.
GE Transportation Aircraft Engines GEAE
Developer, Cincinnati, OH. Fall 1991, Summer 1992, Fall 1992
Developing software on real-time parallel processing system (Intel Multi-Bus II) for synchronization of real time data acquired
from test engines. Optimizing algorithms on IDAS Image Processing System for calculating the speed and size of hailstones
projected into an aircraft engine. Responsibilities included developing, optimizing, testing, and releasing software.
